The Mauryan Empire Civilization developed in the ancient India during 323-185 B.C. It was ruled for Mauryan dynasty. According to the writings of the Greek diplomat Megasthenes, Pataliputra, the capital—surrounded by a wooden wall pierced by 64 gates and 570 towers. It was discovered by Chandagrupta and it was one of the largest empires in its times. After the Kalinga war the Empire experienced a half century of peace and also the security under Ashoka. Ashoka who was the third one to rule the empire from (r. ca. 273–232 B.C.) is also one of the most famous rulers in the Indian history, and is also credited by building 84,000 stupas for the relics and to commemorate the key events of life.
